Sunday Red

Red has never been a "go to" color for me but for some reason, I found myself surrounded by it yesterday. Borrowed from my best friend, I decided to wear this red New York & Company dress (as a shirt)... It was so comfortable and fuss free!

I also decided to try something new with my hair - instead of my typical twist out, I tried roller setting my hair with sponge rollers... I love the results, although I know it will come out so much better the next time around!

Inspiration {Pat Cleveland}

Absolutely Fabulous... after seeing several photos of 1970's Supermodel Pat Cleveland - I want to take black and white photos... They have a certain kind of sex appeal that colored photos just don't illuminate!

She is STILL gorgeous!

Launch Party {Kouture Magazine}

I had the pleasure of attending the Kouture Magazine "Launch" Party on Saturday at Aloft Hotel in Harlem.  I met the Publisher/Editorial Director, Angela Lenise and Editor-In-Chier, Jennifer Smith Tapp.  The magazine is based out of Atlanta and geared towards woman of color.  This year has definitely started off on a good note, considering all of the wonderful and talented people I have met - the year can only get better. It has taken me a while to warm up to speaking to "strangers" but I realize a closed mouth doesn't get fed... take charge, put on a smile and say HI, MY NAME IS...

Blue Monday

With the sign of a warmer weather creeping up, I decided to wear one of my favorite blazers on Monday. I LOVE the color and the puffy sleeves... and I actually bought this blazer around the time I cut my hair... I always feel like I'm making a statement when I wear it.  Pops of color really make me feel happy in this weather...

Nowadays, everyone is digital and I'm sure we all find it hard to keep ourselves away from our Blackberries, iPhones and Evo's.  But who doesn't want to Tweet about whats happening during Fashion Week?

Six Months {and a few days}

{wearing: Emijaa Jaaemil Black Fringe Necklace and Earrings, H&M Blazer, Old Navy Tank}

It has been officially SIX months and a few days since I cut my hair.  For years, I permed my hair not knowing the damage I had been doing. Cutting my hair has been the best thing I've done in a long time.  I contemplated cutting my hair for many months, reasons being: how it would look, length and hair type.

On July 29, 2010, I finally decided I was done trying to transition out and went for the scissors.  Having my hair short (I am growing it out from a TWA) has forced me to look into new elements to help compensate for my lack of lengthy locks. It has forced me to restructure my thinking and perception on hair, helped me to elude more confidence and has allowed me to alter my personal style.  I've experimented with bigger and bolder accessories and makeup. My personal style has evolved, allowing me to become more daring and show much more versatility. But I'm most proud of my confidence.

I can no longer hide behind her {my hair}.

Hair is hair and it doesn't define you, you define it. So DEFINE your hair and make it a part of YOU {Don't become a part of it}.  As you grow and mature so does your hair and the best thing you can do is nuture and care for it as you do yourself.  Your hair is only a reflection of who and what you are...
